Sharing all the best that Olympia has to offer.

Are you ready for some football?

Our late start to the summer weather makes it even tougher to believe that we are already into September. But it is a reality I must come to terms with, so I might as well focus on the positives of what the fall season brings. One of my favorite signs of fall is the start of high school football. So bring on the fog and rain, turn on the bright stadium lights and let’s watch some local rivalries on the gridiron.

Capital High School opened the season last night with a gritty performance against perennial powerhouse, and #3 ranked, O’Dea High School of Seattle. The Cougars held a 1 point halftime margin at 14-13 and played a scoreless 3rd quarter against the visitors. But O’Dea triumphed in the end, adding 15 points to the scoreboard while keeping Capital’s offense contained, for a final score of 28-14.

Other local schools kick off the season tonight, with games going on across the Puget Sound region. Here is a look at tonight’s schedule for the local teams:

Olympia Bears at Tumwater T-birds

North Thurston Rams at Shelton Highclimbers

Timberline Blazers at Camas Papermakers

River Ridge Hawks at Washington Patriots

Black Hills Wolves at Montesano Bulldogs

All games kick off at 7:00 p.m.
